Tennessee Lookout, 1/14/22

In 2021, the Tennessee General Assembly passed the Tennessee Learning Loss Remediation and Student Acceleration Act which would prevent students from advancing from third grade to fourth grade if students were not deemed “proficient” or higher on the third grade TCAP test. The law takes effect this school year. If it had been in effect last school year, nearly 65% of third grade students would have been unable to progress to the next grade.
