Krista Johnson is the CEO of ALLMemphis, a nonprofit organization that believes in increasing literacy and education equity in Memphis through direct, structured and personalized training for teachers. “We live in a community where only about 22% of the students can read,” said Johnson. “We’re trying to change the narrative that it’s not a student deficit, it’s a much more systemic deficit, and we need to solve it at the level of the teacher.”
