New America, a public policy think tank, held a discussion in conjunction with “Banned Books Week.” The annual recognition week, held the first week in October, highlights the value of free and open access to information and brings together the entire book community in shared support of the freedom to seek and express ideas. The New America panel discussion, entitled “How Diverse Books Set Students Up for Success,” was held on Oct. 3 in Washington, D.C. and included panelists: Revida Rahman, Williamson County, Tennessee, resident, parent, and co-founder of One WillCo, a local nonprofit.
