Join The Education Trust in Tennessee’s EmpowerED student voice network as we discuss the importance of teacher diversity and the need for a diverse teacher workforce in Tennessee. Keynote speaker, Dr. Diarese George, will be interviewed in a fireside chat by League Leader, Dereke Townsend, a senior at the University Tennessee Knoxville and an aspiring history teacher.
About the Tennessee Educators of Color Alliance (TECA): TECA is a statewide nonprofit organization committed to ensuring strong accountability systems that promote equitable outcomes and excellence in education. They believe more educators of color need a shared, elevated voice and stronger presence in public education. They do this by engaging and convening educators of color with opportunities to fellowship, developing layers of mentorship between preservice educators of color and in-service educators of color, and exposing educators of color to various leadership opportunities.
