SUMMARY:Investing in America’s Children: How relief funding is investing in kids’ futures
DESCRIPTION:The pandemic has led to increased childhood hunger and disrupted early learning opportunities for kids as many providers and programs have permanently closed. Thankfully\, federal stimulus legislation and the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) provided urgent relief to address this crisis for kids and families. However\, this is only the first step towards achieving solutions that could improve kids’ health and wellbeing. \nJoin us for a special webinar on Tuesday\, June 15 at 7:30 p.m. ET / 6:30 p.m. CT. The event will be moderated by Krysta Jones\, the Executive Director of Virginia Promise Partnership and featuring Kaitlyn Joshua\, Community Organizer with Power Coalition for Equity and Justice in Louisiana\, Lisa Ranfos\, MS\, Assistant Clinical Professor and Executive Director of the Child Study and Development Center at the University of New Hampshire\, and Jennifer Roe\, Save the Children Home Visitor in Tennessee. \nRegister

SUMMARY:Data & Solutions- Let's Think Big
DESCRIPTION:Dollars and Sense is a 7-part learning series designed to help Tennesseans understand how schools are funded in Tennessee\, and what we can do to improve the adequacy and equity in our funding formula so that our schools and students have access to the resources that they need to succeed. We will feature expert speakers from Tennessee and across the country\, and assign optional readings for each session. \nSession 5 of 7 will provide attendees with an analysis of possible solutions and alternatives to the BEP\, which is a resource-based funding model. What alternatives exist? What is working in other states and what can we learn from them? We’ll hear from experts on how we can cost out solutions\, and discuss what it would take to fund our schools in an equitable and adequate manner. \nRegister
